Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light, smooth, and fluffy.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla.
- Activate the Baking Soda: Dissolve the baking soda in 2 teaspoons of hot water, then pour into the batter along with the salt.
- Add Flour, Chocolate Chips & Walnuts: Gradually mix in the flour until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
- Shape the Cookies: Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
- Bake the Cookies: Bake for 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden while the centers remain soft.
- Cool & Enjoy: Let the cookies rest for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
