Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light, smooth, and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. Activate the Baking Soda: Dissolve the baking soda in 2 teaspoons of hot water, then pour into the batter along with the salt.
  5. Add Flour, Chocolate Chips & Walnuts: Gradually mix in the flour until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  6. Shape the Cookies: Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake the Cookies: Bake for 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden while the centers remain soft.
  2. Cool & Enjoy: Let the cookies rest for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
