Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the batter, then spoon the remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 to 5 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
