Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 15.25 ounces chocolate cake mix Store-bought mix for ease.
  • 18.3 ounces fudge brownie mix Store-bought mix for ease.
  • 4 large eggs Use fresh eggs for the best results.
  • 1.25 cups water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise Can be substituted with applesauce or yogurt.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
For the ganache
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Heat until just simmering.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to cake mix instructions and grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix and fudge brownie mix.
  3. Add eggs, water, vegetable oil, and mayonnaise. Mix until well combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake according to the cake mix instructions or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Making Ganache
  1. In a saucepan, heat heavy cream until just simmering.
  2. Pour the hot cream over chocolate chips in a bowl and let sit for a few minutes. Stir until smooth.
Finishing Touch
  1. Once the cake has cooled, pour the ganache over the top and spread it evenly.
  2. Allow the ganache to set before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. Keep at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Let it come to room temperature before serving again. Adding nuts or coffee granules can enhance flavor.
