Ingredients
  

For the Sloppy Joe Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Toast
  • 8 slices garlic bread Can use whole wheat or gluten-free garlic bread.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack or mozzarella.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Assembly and Baking
  1. Place garlic bread on a baking sheet. Top each slice with the sloppy joe mixture and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Best served hot right out of the oven. Can serve with a fresh salad or crispy fries. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. To reheat, bake in the oven until warm and cheese melts.
