Ingredients
  

Sloppy Joe Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Topping and Bread
  • 4 slices garlic bread You can use any type of bread instead.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to try different types of cheese.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent.
  2. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
Assembly and Cooking
  1. Preheat the oven to broil.
  2. Place the garlic toast on a baking sheet, then pile the sloppy joe mixture on top of each slice.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the sloppy joes.
  4. Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve hot.

Notes

Serve with pickles, fries, or a simple side salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven until warm.
