Method

Preparation and cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onion and green pepper, cooking until soft.
  3. Add the sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the beef is browned.
  4. Remove the mixture from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Cut the top off the loaf of bread and hollow out the inside, leaving a thick crust.
  6. Fill the hollowed loaf with the beef mixture and top with shredded cheese.
  7. Replace the top of the loaf and wrap it in foil.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Serve directly from the oven with a side of marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce. Leftovers can be wrapped and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or mushrooms to the beef mixture. Wrapping in foil while baking helps keep the loaf soft.
