Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, salt, and pepper until evenly mixed.
- On a sheet of parchment paper, press the mixture into a 35x45 cm (14x18 in) rectangle.
- Spread shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the rectangle, leaving a 2 cm border on the edges.
- Carefully roll the meat like a jelly roll, enclosing the cheese completely. Pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the roll in a 25x38 cm (10x15 in) baking dish and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the roll rest briefly before slicing into thick portions. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard to the meat mixture. You can also mix the cheddar with Gouda or Pepper Jack for varied flavor, or add vegetables like finely chopped bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition.
