Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in granulated sugar and cocoa powder until well combined.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
Cheesecake Layer
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
Assembly
- Cut the cooled brownies into cubes.
- In a trifle dish, layer brownie cubes, cheesecake mixture, and caramel sauce. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Ensure your cream cheese is softened for easy mixing to prevent lumps in the cheesecake layer. Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting to avoid crumbling. Store-bought caramel sauce can save time.
