Preparation
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk, egg, and butter. Knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise for 1–2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Shaping and Proofing
- After it rises, divide the dough into equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking tray.
- Let the balls proof again for 30–40 minutes.
Baking
- Brush the tops with milk or an egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 18–20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Store cooled buns in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them wrapped well in plastic for up to 3 months. For softer buns, cover them with a kitchen towel as they cool.
