Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 6 slices slices of bread, cubed Use your favorite type of bread.
  • 6 large large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk Any type of milk can be used.
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice.
  • 1 cup of cooked sausage or bacon, crumbled Can be substituted with vegetables for a vegetarian option.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Add in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer the cubed bread, followed by the cooked sausage or bacon, and then the shredded cheese.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and cheese.
  5. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak in the egg mixture.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden on top.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated overnight. If doing so, increase baking time by a few minutes if it's still cold from the refrigerator. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
