Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Add in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In a greased baking dish, layer the cubed bread, followed by the cooked sausage or bacon, and then the shredded cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and cheese.
- Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak in the egg mixture.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden on top.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
This casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated overnight. If doing so, increase baking time by a few minutes if it's still cold from the refrigerator. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
