Ingredients

For the Biscuits
  • 2 pieces refrigerated biscuits or homemade biscuits
For the Gravy
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage Use a good quality sausage for the best flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 cups whole milk For a richer flavor, try using half-and-half.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Optional ingredient.

Method

Preparation
  1. Bake the biscuits according to the package directions until golden brown.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring so the gravy stays smooth.
  5. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until the gravy thickens.
  6. Season with black pepper, salt, and garlic powder if using.
  7. Split the warm biscuits open and spoon the sausage gravy over the top.

Notes

If you have leftovers, let the sausage gravy cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Store the biscuits separately to prevent sogginess. Reheat both before serving.
