Ingredients
  

Meat and Sauce Ingredients
  • 450 g Ground beef
  • 450 g Italian sausage
  • 1 small Onion, finely diced (about 100 g)
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced (about 12 g)
  • 680 g Marinara sauce
  • 425 g Crushed tomatoes
  • 30 g Tomato paste (2 tbsp)
  • 12 g Sugar (1 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp Dried basil (1 g)
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning (4 g)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
Cheese Mixture Ingredients
  • 425 g Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 170 g Shredded mozzarella (1½ cups)
  • 100 g Grated Parmesan (1 cup)
  • 1 tbsp Chopped parsley (5 g, optional)
Noodles and Toppings
  • 9-12 sheets Lasagna noodles
  • 340 g Shredded mozzarella (3 cups)
  • Extra Parmesan for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pan, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion until fully browned. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  2. Add marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20–30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Spread a thin layer of sauce in a 23×33 cm (9×13-inch) baking dish. Add noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and sauce. Repeat layers 2–3 times.
  2. Finish with sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan on top.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake at 190°C for 30 minutes.
  2. Uncover and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Let the lasagna rest before slicing; this helps it hold its shape. Feel free to add veggies like spinach or mushrooms to the filling for extra nutrition. For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
