Preparation
- In a large pan, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion until fully browned. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20–30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Assembly
- Spread a thin layer of sauce in a 23×33 cm (9×13-inch) baking dish. Add noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and sauce. Repeat layers 2–3 times.
- Finish with sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan on top.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake at 190°C for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Serving
- Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Let the lasagna rest before slicing; this helps it hold its shape. Feel free to add veggies like spinach or mushrooms to the filling for extra nutrition. For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
