Main ingredients
  • 1 pound Bacon, Cut Into Thirds Use thick-cut bacon for a more satisfying crunch.
  • 1 pound Lil’ Smokies (small sausages) These small sausages can be found in the refrigerated section.
  • 1 stick Butter Melted butter helps to bind the sugars to the smokies.
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar Add spices like black or cayenne pepper for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the bacon into thirds and wrap each smokie individually.
  3. Arrange all the wrapped smokies in a single layer in a baking dish.
  4. Melt the stick of butter in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until well mixed.
  5. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture over the wrapped smokies and bacon.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cup of brown sugar evenly over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Turn the heat up to 400°F (200°C) for an additional 5 minutes or until the bacon is crispy.
Serving
  1. Once they are done baking, let them cool for a few minutes.
  2. Serve warm on a platter with toothpicks for easy eating. They pair well with dipping sauces like barbecue or ranch dressing.

Notes

For a caramelized finish, broil the smokies for a minute or two after baking. You can also use turkey bacon for a lighter option or add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
