Ingredients
  

Meat Mixture
  • 2 lbs ground beef Lean ground beef can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper
Gravy
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
Topping
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar) Experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, diced onion, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into steaks.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, brown the steaks on both sides and remove them from the skillet.
  2. In the same skillet, combine beef broth and cream of mushroom soup, stirring well.
  3. Place the browned steaks into a baking dish and pour the gravy mixture over them.
  4. Top with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, thaw overnight and reheat.
