Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 whole whole chicken (about 1.2–1.5 kg), legs tied
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and tie the legs together with kitchen twine for even cooking.
  2. In a small bowl, mix olive oil with all the spices. Pour over the chicken and rub thoroughly, making sure to coat all sides.
  3. Set your air fryer to 180°C (356°F) and let it preheat for 3–5 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  2. Flip the chicken breast-side up and brush with remaining marinade or oil for extra crispiness.
  3. Continue cooking for another 20–25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) and the skin is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh finish.

Notes

Make sure to pat the chicken completely dry before cooking for the crispiest skin. Adjust spices to your taste, and consider using different flavors by changing the spices or adding a marinade before cooking.
