Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces Ribeye or New York Strip steaks (about 1-inch thickness)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter Salted or unsalted, for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Allow the steaks to come to room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.
  3. Rub the steaks with olive oil and season liberally with salt and pepper on both sides.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Arrange the steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket and air fry for 5 minutes.
  3. Flip the steaks once and continue air frying for about 5 to 7 more minutes, until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches between 135 degrees F for medium rare or 150 degrees F for medium well.
  4. Top with salted butter and let the steak rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Make sure your steak is at room temperature before cooking for the best results. Don’t skip letting the steak rest after cooking to redistribute the juices. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness—it’s the best way to avoid overcooking. Experiment with different seasonings or marinades to add variety to the flavor. If you have leftovers, store the steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the steak back in the air fryer for a few minutes, or use a skillet over low heat until warmed through.
