Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Binding Ingredients
  • 1 large egg, beaten
Coating
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
Fish
  • 1 pound cod fillet, cut into strips
For Cooking
  • 1 spray Cooking spray
  • to taste Tartar sauce for serving
  • to taste Lemon wedges for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Place the beaten egg in another bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  3. Pat the fish dry using a paper towel.
  4. Dredge the fish in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it with the panko breadcrumbs, pressing down lightly to make sure the crumbs stick well.
  5. Spray both sides of the fish with cooking spray.
Cooking
  1. Air fry at 400 degrees F for about 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through until the fish is crispy and lightly golden.
  2. Check for doneness with a fork to see if the fish flakes easily. If not, you can return it to the air fryer for another 1-2 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with fries and tartar sauce, if desired.

Notes

Make sure to pat the fish dry before dredging it. This helps the coating stick better. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed for even cooking. Experiment with different seasonings in the flour mix to customize the flavor to your liking.
